A Mix of Old & New…

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

Well, the “Taste of St. Luke” (Sunday, August 27th) was beyond my wildest dreams and expectations.

Here’s why:

-The weather was perfect!  Thank You, God!

-Hundreds and hundreds of people–of all ages–came to celebrate the day with free food, games, and activities.

-The oldies rock band was jammin’!

-Worship was spirit-filled and full of new faces.

-Can you think of a time in three hours time in St. Luke’s history in which there were more smiles and laughter?

-Finally, there was a mix of “old & new”–by that, I mean, everywhere I turned, I saw familiar faces and ones I didn’t recognize.  That’s the reason I thought Taste of St. Luke was so awesome!  We were a mix of familiar faces and new ones–and that’s what the day was all about!

Thank you, all, for being great hosts for our community!  What a blessing to share Christ’s love with the world, and to ask nothing in return.

I pray you all enjoyed “Taste” as much as my family did.  See you next year at “Taste of St. Luke 2007!”

Be Blessed Today!

Host and Guest

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

Often times, congregations have “church picnics”–this is pretty much a fun day for all of the members with lots of food, some music, worship, and games for all ages.  It’s a day for one another.  That’s often where it stops…

On Sunday, August 27th, beginning with worship at 10:00am, we are HOSTING “Taste of St. Luke.”  That’s right, I said “hosting.”  We are hosting this event for our community–so spread the word.  Free food, games, and activities for all ages–but it’s not a day simply for us.  It’s a day for our community.  It’s a day for you to invite some folks you live by, work with, or know from the ballfield or community group.  Tell them to come to the Taste of St. Luke, and get a taste for what God is doing in our congregation.

Just maybe they’ll see the Holy Spirit alive and well.  Just maybe they’ll see warm and friendly smiles and people.  Just maybe they’ll get a sense that God wants them to make St. Luke their home congregation.

So, are you ready to be the hosts?  The guests are coming…
