Halfway Home, Dreamers…

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

Well, here we are.  Hafway home in our Fall Sermon Series, “The Dream Giver.”  So far in our journey, we’ve talked about:

  • Claiming our God-given dreams and pursuing that dream.  Our God-given dreams are the reasons He made us–calls to faith and a ministry in sharing Christ’s love with the world.
  • Leaving our comfort zones to pursue our God-given dreams.  With every step away from the land of Familiar, we start to feel more and more uncomfortable.  We stand before an invisible wall of fear with a choice to make, and we step through with courage in spite of our fears.  We continue on our path to pursue our God-given dreams.
  • In Borderland, we find “Border Bullies.”  They are people we know–unexpected opposition.  They’re there to stop us because we’ve disturbed their own comfort zones.  Thank God there’s a Champion in Borderland.  Champion proactively helps us continue the journey of pursuing our God-given dreams.

Halfway home…not what happens?

Come to worship and continue the pursuit of our God-given dreams!  Whatever happens, I can tell you this:  This is an exercise in FAITH.  This is not a self-help book series, not a “5 steps to a perfect life” process.  This is an in-your-face journey of faith.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Will you step forward with me?

Blessings,

Pastor Tim

Awaken Dreams!

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

No, I didn’t say “Awake FROM a dream,” I said, “Awaken Dreams!”  YOUR dreams!

As we launch our latest sermon series, “The Dream Giver,” we are ready to allow God to awaken the dreams in our heart of hearts he gave us once upon a time!  Yes, you have a dream, and God gave it to you!  The Bible teaches that God gives a dream to everyone He calls to faith.  So it’s time to awaken your dream.  Why?  Because God gave you a dream to meet a need.  Better put, he gave you a unique and great dream to meet a great need.

So, St. Luke and friends, buckle up!  The buzz in the hallway between and after services was exciting.  I kept asking people, “What’s your dream?”  Responses were, but not limited to:

“I have no idea, but I can’t wait to find out.”

“I never realized God gave me a dream!”

“I’m not sure, but I want to know!”

Blessings as we, together, uncover and discover our GOD-GIVEN DREAMS!
