Real Community…
Thursday, January 25th, 2007…is what God intended us for. Not being lost in a big crowd. Sure, we have the big crowd–just come around any weekend to worship. Now that’s a BIG crowd. New Member classes continue to make the big crowd bigger.
I wonder who comes through our doors and feels lost?
Well, not for long…Small Groups are on the horizon…God’s horizon!
He’s bringing a new and intentional Small Groups Ministry to St. Luke–and that means the big crowd breaks down into small crowds–Small Groups.
Groups of 8 to 10 adults gathering in the Word; praying; getting serious about living out God’s mission in the world; and making new friends. That’s Small Groups at St. Luke.
I’ve been preaching and teaching that we are about to experience a serious DNA shift–to become a church OF Small Groups; not just a church WITH Small Groups. The latter is in a lot of churches, and Small Groups are the exception–not the rule. Well, St. Luke is going to be a big crowd broken down into Small Groups, until everyone is connected to God and one another through them.
No more getting lost in the big crowd? Why? Because there are others there walking with you. St. Luke becomes a church where NOBODY walks alone.
So buckle up, St. Luke! You’re about to go deeper with God. You’re about to meet new friends you never knew before! You’re about to be lifted up before God by others in prayer. You’re about to name and claim your part to play in God’s mission for the world.
Oh, and more thing–Christ will be at the center…in person…really there.
Who’s with me?
