What do you think of when you hear the word, “mission?”

For many, we think of going far away, and “doing mission” in foreign places to people with different cultures.  Sure, this is “mission.”

Yet, “mission” means so much more.

Check out the following list, and see if you think these are places for mission:

Home

School

Work

Neighborhood

Children

Friendships

Did the term “mission” come to mind when you read through that list?  Maybe not.  My prayer is that beginning this fall and into our upcoming program year (sep 07 - aug 08), we’ll all begin to understand “mission” in these areas of our lives.

God sends out his church–that’s you and me–to BE the church.  We are called to mission wherever God places us–so not just across the seas.  Mission is making disciples and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with the world.  That can happen just about anywhere.

It’s time we all rally around mission, and then go BE the church wherever God calls us.  This is living the life of a Christ-follower.

I can’t wait to see where God is going to take us this year!
